Meet Christian Velasquez
Guided by Faith. Grounded in Community. Focused on Results.

For more than 30 years, Christian Velasquez has worked to make Mid-Michigan a better place to live, work, and raise a family. He believes government should reflect the values of the people it serves — faith, family, hard work, and responsibility — not the priorities of career politicians.
Chris began his career at Dow Corning, where he worked across every part of the operation — from the factory floor to research labs, finance, supply chain, and global business leadership. That broad experience taught Chris how to solve problems, manage budgets, and lead teams — skills too often missing in Lansing today.

Chris’s roots are humble — he grew up on a farm in Kansas, working his way through an engineering degree at Kansas State (Go Wildcats!) with a series of “dirty jobs” that taught him the value of hard work and the importance of blue-collar trades.
Chris has spent years giving back to his community, serving on boards and foundations that strengthen education, expand opportunity, and support local development — including the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, Michigan STEM Council, Delta College Foundation, and Midland Rotary.
He’s also volunteered with organizations that help young people pursue STEM and skilled-trades careers, and supports programs that feed the hungry.
After Dow, Chris built two small businesses into firms of roughly 100 employees each, later selling them to American companies that continue to thrive. Chris knows what it takes to meet a payroll and fight through Lansing’s red tape.
In his current firm, PointsNorth Consulting, Chris works with Michigan employers to help them grow, adapt, and stay competitive in a changing economy.

Chris and his wife, Jenée, have been married for 36 years. She serves as Executive Director of the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation, and their daughter Isabel, a Clemson University graduate and former rowing team captain, shares their commitment to faith, hard work, and service to others.
Chris is bringing those same values to Lansing — practical experience, common sense, and a belief that government should serve the people, not itself. His goal is simple: to make Mid-Michigan a place where families and businesses can thrive.
